Avoid making these 10 Interior design mistakes while renovating your home

Interior designing is a process that requires lot of imagination because if you actually implement everything that you have in your mind then it will cost a lot.  So rather than relying too much on your imagination and to avoid any mistakes it is always good to take advice from the experts.  Here we are going to discuss some of the mistakes that you can avoid if you are renovating your home.

1.  Do not buy things of wrong scale and proportion: Interior designing means that you take care of the size of your room while renovating it.  For example, if you are buying furniture like a sofa set for your drawing room then you must take the measurements of your space and buy the furniture accordingly.  Like how long a sofa can be accommodated in your drawing room, how much space will be left for the center table and side table etc.  If you have the measurements you cannot go wrong.

2.  Avoid indulging in impulse buying: Impulse buying makes you end up buying stuff that does not go with your existing interior because what may be appealing to you on an impulse as a standalone piece of furniture or art may not go with the design and décor of your home and you may not even have space to keep it.

3.  Do your budget allocation and don’t ignore it: It is a very important aspect of renovating your home.  So you must have a clear idea of how much budget you have in total and how much you will allocate in each segment of your home.

4.  Don’t avoid asking for expert help: We often do not ask for help as we shy away from asking for help in interior designing.  We should avoid doing that.  When we are renovating our home, we should ask for expert help.  We generally have preconceived ideas that a designer or architect will charge a lot but we should go and talk to the architect or designer about our needs and our budget and they can work around it and help you.  It will save you lot of time and money too.

5.  Don’t clutter your ledges and niches: Sometime people put too many items as display in the ledge and niches that do not look good and in fact look cluttered.  If the showpieces are small then you can keep 2 or 3 but if they are big only one piece looks good.

6.  Don’t keep excess storage: The more you have storage the more stuff you keep storing, which creates clutter.  You should sell out the extra stuff that is not useful.  If you will keep more storage, you will store a lot of stuff in it to use the space, so it is better to have limited storage.

7.  Don’t use fake or artificial flowers: You can use some natural flowers or put some natural plants in the indoors as well as in the outdoors, they look better and they purify the air as well.

8.  Don’t finalize the paint without seeing the sample: Don’t finalize the paint just by seeing it in the shade card.  First use a sample on the piece of wall and if you like it you can go for it or else if you want a darker tinge you can change it but you must try it on a sample.

9.  Don’t order furniture or appliance before the interiors are finished: Sometimes the furniture is ordered and it gets delivered even before the interiors are finished.  So even if it is packed a lot of dust goes into it.  So some buffer must be kept between the date of delivery of your furniture and date of finishing the interior work.

10.  Don’t copy or follow others: While renovating your house you must keep your style in your mind and get the renovation done accordingly.  You must not copy your friend’s house or anyone else that you like and may even be out of your budget because your house is your personal statement, so keep it the way according to your style.

Conclusion:

Renovation of house takes time and money so it is better to take expert advice before spending it.  At CREATIVEBUILD we have expert architects and designers who will give you the best advice that will save both your time and money and you will get amazing results.
