10 Habits to keep your kitchen clean and organized

Kitchen is the place where a lot of cleaning is required due to everyday cooking.  If we do not make it a habit to keep it clean, it would be a ground for bacteria to grow and many pests to come and dwell there.  Therefore it is very important to keep it clean and germ free.  If you develop the following habits you will be able to keep your kitchen always sparkling clean:

1.  Keep a towel handy: To dry your hands after washing before cooking keep a towel handy so that your hands are clean while touching the vegetables, flour, and pulses and you don’t touch any containers if your hands are not clean.  You wash and dry them with the towel before using any containers.

2.  Keep a kitchen towel under the chakla: If you keep a cloth under the chakla while making rotis it helps in two ways, first the chakla will not move from its place while rolling chapatis and second all the dry flour will be collected on the kitchen towel, which helps in cleaning later.

3.  Wash the knives and chopping board immediately after use: To avoid any germs on the knives and chopping board, wash the knives and chopping board immediately after use.  If you don’t wash it immediately the chopping board may get stained and it may get harder to clean it later.

4.  Put peel of your vegetables in a plate: While peeling your vegetables don’t put the peels on the countertop of the kitchen as it would then require some effort to clean it.  Instead you can put the peels of your vegetables in a plate so that your kitchen countertop remains clean.

5.  Wash the blender immediately after usage:  If you do not wash the blender immediately after using it, the food residue will accumulate and it will be difficult to clean it.  It will also leave stains on the blades. So after using it pour some water with few drops of dish soap and blend it.  The blender will be cleaned easily without any efforts.  Wash it now with normal tap water and let it dry.

6.  Place all the food containers and spice boxes at their place after cooking: Once you are done with the cooking always put the food containers and spice boxes at their designated place.  It helps to keep the kitchen clean and organized and avoids unnecessary clutter on the countertop.

7.  After cooking clean your oil dispenser, spice container, and fridge handle: After cooking you must give a good wipe to the oil dispenser, spice container and fridge handle as you touch it many times during cooking and it gets stained.  Giving it a wipe every time you cook will keep your kitchen stain free and reduce the effort of cleaning it later.

8.  Soak the dishes in the water during night: If you wash your utensils yourself, then wash them in the night before going to bed.  If you have a house help that comes in the morning to wash the utensils, then soak all the dishes in the water during night.  Remove all the leftover food from the dishes before putting them into the sink.  This will keep germs and pests away from your kitchen.

9.  Remember to wash your sponge and scrubber: One of the things that absorbs water and gives a foul smell if left unclean is the sponge and scrubber that is used to wash the utensils.  Also it becomes a house of many germs if left unclean.  So soak it into the soap water and completely rinse the soap water.  You can disinfect scrubber in plain hot water.

10.  Rinse and dry the cleaning cloth and sponge wipe after cooking: You should always rinse and dry the cloth and sponge that you use to wipe after your cooking is finished.  This helps in keeping your kitchen countertop sparkling clean and your cloth bacteria free.

If you put the above practices into your habit it will keep your kitchen always clean and organized and you will love to cook there.  At Creativebuild we provide you with a modular kitchen that is functional, easy to maintain, and easy to organize.
